2023 GMC Terrain
The GMC Terrain competes in the compact SUV market, but it has a more upscale feel than many others in its segment. For the 2023 model year, the Terrain gains some extra horsepower from its turbo-four engine, and two new paint colors join the mix. The Elevation package has newly designed wheels, ?and a Black Diamond Edition Package is now available for the Denali. Here's a look at some details for the 2023 GMC Terrain.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level SLE trim comes with LED headlights and taillights, heated power-adjustable side exterior mirrors, and 17-inch alloy wheels. A step up to the SLT adds 18-inch wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, and roof rack side rails. The AT4 is the?off-road-equipped Terrain and comes with a skid plate and all-season tires. It also has a unique grille, 17-inch gloss black wheels, and AT4 badging. The top-level Denali has 19-inch wheels and an upgraded suspension, and the Denali Black Diamond Edition has 19-inch pained wheels and a panoramic sunroof.
Engine (Power)
Every GMC Terrain gets power from the same engine. The 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder pushes out 175 horsepower and gets 203 pound-feet of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission sends all the power to the front wheels with the standard configuration, but you can opt for all-wheel drive for any model except the AT4, where it comes standard.
Performance
The ride in the Terrain stays smooth and quiet over most roads, and the extra horsepower for the 2023 model makes a difference in acceleration. GMC also adds electronic brake force assistance, which it calls Eboost, for added braking power. The AT4's extra ground clearance and standard all-wheel drive make it capable of driving in some off-road conditions.
Interior
The Terrain has room for up to five people, and the seats are comfortable in both rows. The SLE comes with cloth upholstery and a fold-flat front passenger seat. Leather upholstery is added in the SLT, along with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and heated front seats. If you have the Denali Black Diamond Edition, it adds heated rear seats and ventilated front seats. Technology in the GMC Terrain starts with a 7-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SLT upgrades to an 8-inch touchscreen and adds a household-style power outlet, and the Denali adds a wireless charging pad and premium Bose stereo system.
Safety Features
Every 2023 GMC Terrain comes with several advanced driver aids. Each trim comes standard with a forward collision warning system with automatic braking, pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a following distance indicator. The Pro Safety Plus Package adds adaptive cruise control and a safety alert seat, and it has rear parking sensors. GMC also offers the option for a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert. The Denali comes standard with all the features of the blind-spot monitor, front and rear parking sensors, and a safety alert seat, as well as a head-up display. A semi-automated parking system comes with the Black Diamond Edition.?
